NES ROM Releases
Last updated 2/14/96

Ever since the finding of PasoFami, NES ROMs have slowly trickled out into the general public from various source. This page is the most complete listing of available ROMs on the Internet. I maintain this page as both a reference for myself, but as a reference to other people who are asking for games not currently available. This list is also very current, and anything not covered should be emailed to Typhoon_Z. I will not email NES ROMs. However, if you happen to see me on IRC, I may be willing to exchange a few. Thank You.

EFX of Damaged Cybernetics, along with Kaboom and a few others released the first set of NES games at the beginning of the summer of 1996. The releases began with Circus Charlie, Super Mario Bros, and a few Japanese games. 16 Damaged Cybernetics affiliated NES packs were released, and many games were rereleased in untrained form, or in English. Pack #9 was an interNES pack also containing games later rereleased with the exception of California Games. Also, many solo releases by EFX were released apart from the packs including Destiny of an Emporer, and Ninja Gaiden. Acey, a former Damaged Cybernetics affiliate, released Slalom, and Track and Field 2 solo before releasing four NES World packs containing some rereleases and new releases in .NES form. Two VmprHntrD packs were released including both Final Fantasies and Super Mario Bros. 2. hCS, while using the handle aRCHAiC, released a pack of games that included Door Door, Space Invaders, and four others. And finally, Console Consortium started rereleasing all of the DC packs in interNES format and released Crystalis in their 9th pack for interNES in hopes of it working in version point 6. They also released a 24-in-1 and a 100-in-1 ROM that somewhat work with interNES.

Acey began releasing NES World packs at about the same time that EFX's 16th DC pack came out, and many games between the packs were similar. The 5th NES World pack contained over 100 unformatted and unnamed images that were later sorted and put into a pack by VmprHntrD. The contents of the Archaic Pack were also in NW-INES5.ZIP, so for those who missed it, you can dig out the games =)

New additions:

  • 3/23 I've decided to NOT list the NW-INES5 pack, VHD3 contains all its unique images, and will be added ASAP.
  • 3/23 VmprHntrD Pack #4 added (VHD4), I need a .NFO on the third pack so that I can add it.
  • 3/23 Super Mario Bros. 3 (EFX?) added, Final Fantasy 3 (EFX?) added.
  • 3/23 While reconstructing my games listing, I came across Lunar Pool... never on this list... ???
  • 3/21 I lost EVERYONE OF MY NES Games!!! I am also behind on VmprHntrD, GiTM, and solo releases =(
  • 3/21 The Legend of Zelda II: Links Adventures (Japanese) added! Thanks EFX!
  • 2/8 EFX's ME-EFX1.ZIP pack added! Do a text search with Netscape for ME1
  • 2/8 Acey's NES World Pack #6 added ... #5 might be listed soon (inside joke)
  • 1/4 EFX's 1st Console Consortium Pack added!
