wordpress

When I updated wordpress last week (out of frustration) I had disabled all the plugins, and forgot about it. Realizing my mobile app wasn’t working (and why) I re-enabled them. Only now, things seem slightly different and there’s some dumb privacy pop-up that I could disable, but I guess people want pop-ups about the false pretense of having rights? Anyway, I’m not collecting data, only data required to login and post comments anywhere on the site, and when I migrate off of wordpress, that will all go poof anyway. I’m not interested in anyone’s data, and I am not marketing the site or anything anyway.

server issues…

It seems I’ve had numerous OOM issues as of late on lngn.net. I believe WordPress to be the culperate, and likely all the RAM used between it and mysql. As I’m too busy to change anything until January at the earliest, I’ll just leave it be for now, but eventually I’m going to change the site to use markdown and install a forum rather than keep WordPress and it’s never-ending overhead installed.

The comments on pages make them look terrible and load times could be improved using markdown. By moving user interaction to a dedicated spot and using markdown I hope to free up the RAM these services so desperately need to continue functioning properly.

To be continued…
